...una biblioteca es un gabinete mágico en el cual hay muchos espíritus hechizados. Despiertan cuando los llamamos; mientras no abrimos un libro, ese libro, literalmente, es un volumen, es una cosa entre las cosas.      - Emerson

Getting the most out of SOL and PLUS

These sites embrace more than 200 different pages.  Your simplest search option is the box at left.  It scours an index, updated weekly, of every word in the combined SOL and PLUS sites.  You don't need to accent any letters when you enter Spanish words.

Hits on the SOL site will often be deceptively doubled because your keyword might appear in both the page you want and in the corresponding issue-by-issue index page (see buttons at left).  Simply pay attention to the page titles, or else use the search tool's sophisticated query options to refine your results.  The search below would've returned only the #1 hit for the search string [unesco -Index]

PLUS is divided up thematically.  Its left-hand menu bar can help you find your way around.  SOL's index pages are always just a click away in the bar at left and list the contents of each issue.  Browsing there can lead you to things you never even knew you were looking for.

Of course many of the links in the SOL newsletters have dried up.  We've updated or removed a few of those, but not many.  As for PLUS, we're happy to weed out dead links so don't hesitate to report them.

If the arrangement of the site is confusing, or if you have ideas for how to change it, don't suffer in silence.  Let us know how we can make things easier for you.
